Term and renewal

What moves the number

What you host, how many events you run, and the support you want. What you raise does not.

Processing

What guests

pay

Rates on Handbid's payments platform. There is no platform percentage on top of them.

Visa, Mastercard, Discover

3.5% + $0.30

American Express

3.95% + $0.30

ACH

No per-transaction fee

1.5% flat

When you compare platforms, ask for both numbers

The card rate and any platform fee charged on top of it. Some platforms advertise a lower card rate and add a separate percentage to every transaction.

80%+

Let guests cover the card fee

You can turn on a prompt that asks bidders to cover processing at checkout. Where organizations use it, we see take rates north of 80% — most of the fee comes off your side of the ledger.

ACH is the lowest-cost path

For sponsorships, table purchases, and major gifts, ACH at 1.5% with no per-transaction fee is the cheapest way to accept money on Handbid.

Connect your payout account first

Connect your own payout account before you go live — that is the path. If Handbid processes instead, payouts generally take up to three weeks after you close invoices and sign the settlement report. We do not pay out while invoices are still open.

Transactions already run through Handbid cannot be moved to your own payout account after the fact.

There's no obligation

If Handbid is not the right fit, we will say so.

Straight answers

Asked

every time
How much does Handbid cost?

We quote after a short conversation. We do not charge a percentage of funds raised. The event is the product, so the quote follows the events you run during your term.

Do you take a percentage of what we raise?

No. No commission on proceeds. Card processing is separate: Visa, Mastercard, and Discover are 3.5% + $0.30; American Express is 3.95% + $0.30; ACH is 1.5% flat. There is no platform percentage on top of the card rates.

Is Handbid priced per event or by the year?

By the term, not by the event. A one-year license is standard. Events you run during your term are covered.

Is night-of support extra?

A live person on the phone during your event is in every license. Onsite staff in the room, if you want it, is a line item in the quote before you sign.

What are the credit card processing fees?

Visa, Mastercard, and Discover are 3.5% + $0.30. American Express is 3.95% + $0.30. ACH is 1.5% flat. On Handbid, there is no platform percentage on top of these rates. You can ask guests to cover card fees.

How do we get our money after the event?

Connect your own payout account before you go live. That is the usual path. Or Handbid can process and pay you out after you close invoices and sign a settlement report, generally within three weeks. Email service@handbid.com when you are done collecting.
